Luxury Vessels to stop in Cascais

Luxury Vessels to Stop in Cascais

Luxury Vessels to Stop in Cascais
Cascais luxury cruise ships
Between August 2012 through the end of 2013, visitors will see 11 new luxury cruise ships arrive in Cascais. This new service is sure to have a positive effect on the local economy, as it will bring in tourists from all over the world. Although we already see countless tourists come through this area each year, many of them end up heading to Lisbon without spending much money. This new services ensures that money will be spent in Cascais, which will help the economy substantially well into the future.
The main reason why this will have such a positive impact on Cascais is that these are not ordinary cruise ships that will be passing through the community. Most of the luxury vessels are frequented by multimillionaires, since it is so expensive to purchase a room on these ships. If only a few of the people from these ships visit Cascais each time, it will increase the city’s revenue by a significant amount. These ships will be docked away from the harbour, as the only way to get into the city is by taking a tender boat. As a result, any of the visitors who arrive in the city will truly want to be there.
The first ship that is stopping in Cascais is called The World. This ship features 200 apartments that people can rent in which to sail the world. In fact, this stop is part of a six-month trip, where these people will visit locations all over the globe. Purchasing one of these apartments can cost these individuals as much as €9 million, so everyone on this ship will have money. Whenever a city is able to attract visitors that can afford only the best things in life and are willing to spend to receive what they want, it will have a positive effect on the economy.
Due to the spending power that is contained on these ships, local businesses should see an influx of cash coming soon. This is good news for the city, as many of these businesses have struggled in recent years because of the global financial situation. Since Cascais has never been a stopping point for the world’s elite and the middle class cannot afford to travel as much as it once could, the economy in the city has not been in great shape. At the same time, however, there is plenty to do in this city, as it is a great destination for sun, water sports and dining.
City officials are hopeful that this increased revenue will lead to a rejuvenation of the city. Every Euro that is spent in the city becomes an investment in the community as a whole, which can help many of the city’s urban areas improve. City officials believe that The World vessel could bring in as much as €200,000 to the city. When you consider that 10 more cruise ships will follower over the next year and a half, you can see just how much this can help the city.
By the time 2012 ends, seven cruise ships will have stopped in Cascais. If each one brings in the desired amount of money to the city, the city can begin to grow again. Those visiting the city are sure to enjoy it because of its laid-back attitude and beautiful beaches. There are many small beaches located around town, with many of them being much quieter than these visitors would find in Lisbon or other neighbouring areas. The city also features many great places to dine, which is something that these visitors are sure to enjoy.
To cater to the individuals who will actually be on these ships, the city has joined forces with the company that operates the cruises, which is called King’s Coast. This company has luxury cruises operating all over the world and is able to provide the finest things in life for its guests. King’s Coast and Cascais city officials will be teaming up to offer wine tastings, excursions and golf to those on the vessel. Since these events will be advertised on the ship, it becomes much more likely that Cascais will see a significant increase in its tourism.
Overall, this is great news for Cascais because the people who are on these ships have money put away and are not afraid to spend it. This is a tourism-based economy and anytime that a city that relies on tourism can bring elites to visit the city regularly, it will improve the economy greatly. In addition, since Cascais is slightly off the beaten path, these tourists will not have to worry about overcrowding like they would in other parts of Portugal.
