According to a report by magazine AARP, the best five places to retire in the world are the town of Boquete in Panama; the city of Cascais in Portugal: the Le Marche region of Italy: the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France; and the Puerto Vallarta region in Mexico.
The magazine used factors such as climate, cost of living, health care provision, and leisure facilities to assess quality of life for retirees all around the globe.
Editor Ken Budd advised anyone looking to retire abroad to make sure that they put in appropriate research before moving. “A lot of people visit a place and say 'I’d love to live there,’ but it can be very different being a tourist to living somewhere. You should really visit two or three times, and get a feel for what the place is like.
“It’s worth consulting an attorney, as property laws may be different abroad, and it’s important to research health care. A lot of expats also advise against choosing a place simply because it's low-cost.”
Where do you think the best place to retire in the globe is?
