A traditional holiday and visitor destination which is only 15 or 20 minutes from the centre of Lisbon, Cascais is a zestful colourful town which embraces a very strong heritage of competitive sailing, from Olympic classes to Match Race regattas and Sportsboat championship racing.
A great, very accessible race area with a reputation for stronger breezes, Cascais backs up the great sailing conditions by good
shoreside and marina amenities.
The infrastructure is well set up for major events, including the legacy of hosting the 2007 ISAF World Sailing Championships and more recently stopover of the 2012 Volvo Ocean Race.
The former fishing village gained fame as a resort for Portugal's royal family in the late 1800s and early 1900s. More recently it has hosted the TP52’s Audi MedCup, the America’s Cup World Series, the Match Racing World Tour and the IMOCA Open 60’s Europa Warm’Up race.
